1 Review on “Spirituality for the Skeptic”
The topic makes this book important, but the treatment is not very systematic, I would even say that it is shallow. It is full of references to philosophers, religions, spirituality, news, episodes, but all this material is treated in a way full of clichés, without a hermeneutic. On page 104, while talking about the appropriateness of gratitude, Solomon writes “even if there is no one or nothing in particular to whom that gratitude is directed”, but I cannot see any convincing reason why an atheist/skeptic should cultivate a sense of gratitude.
